Clay Creps and Haley Morrison Provide L&E Insight to Portland Employers

On June 28, Tonkon Torp Labor & Employment attorneys Clay Creps and Haley Morrison provided an employment law overview and legislative update to clients of the Real Benefits Group, a Portland-based full service employment and health care administrator provider.

Haley covered several topics, such as: harassment, discrimination and retaliation, exempt classification, meal and rest periods, leaves of absence, paid sick leave, and background checks. She gave an overview of the laws, and practical tips for complying with them.

Clay dove into a legislative update on Oregon and Washington employment rules and statutes that come into effect during 2016, and offered insight on how the changes would impact employers. The wide-ranging update included Oregon’s Minimum Wage Increase, FLSA Regulatory Changes, Sick Time, Oregon and Portland “Ban the Box” Rules, Health Insurance Benefits Under OFLA, Disclosure of Wage Information, Noncompetition Agreements, Joint Employment, and the Department of Labor “Persuader Rule.”

Tonkon Torp’s Labor & Employment practice helps a diverse group of Pacific Northwest employers to promote positive employee relations, protect competitive positions, deal with union activity, and defend against or minimize exposure to employment litigation.
