Turid Owren Speaks on Panel at the AILA Midyear CLE Conference

Turid Owren, who leads Tonkon Torp’s Business Immigration practice group, was a faculty panelist at the 2015 American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Midyear/Winter CLE Conference, “Riding the Waves of Immigration: Tackling Complex Business Issues When There Is No Guidance,” held on Friday, January 30 in Maui, Hawaii.

In a session on navigating U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Policy, U.S. Department of Labor FAQS and Board of Alien Labor Certification Appeals (BALCA)/ Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) Decisions, Owren and four other speakers discussed important information not found in the regulations, and identified recent FAQs, policies and decisions that change current practice. The panel also offered advice on what to do when these changes impact a case midstream or affect a future petition extension.

Owren leads Tonkon Torp’s Business Immigration practice group. She has for many years served as liaison between AILA and USCIS, chairing or participating on various committees that address USCIS activities and adjudication.
