Immigration Attorneys Speak at Global Practices Special Interest Group Meeting

Alan Perkins, Melina LaMorticella, and Melany Savitt spoke to the Global Practices Special Interest Group of PHRMA (Portland Human Resources Management Association) at its February 10 meeting. The three attorneys discussed the role of the human resource department in facilitating international assignments, knowing when a work visa is required, and what constitutes Permissible Business Visitor activities. They also outlined the best practices and document control methods to keep in mind when tracking the legal status of an international employee. The Immigration attorneys ended their presentation to the audience of human resources professionals by offering an update on current immigration reform in the United States.
