Steven Wilker had an article in the November 2014 issue of the Oregon Civil Rights Newsletter, published by the Oregon State Bar Civil Rights Section. In his article, “Presidential Security Trumps First Amendment: Wood v. Moss,” Steven reviews the backstory and legal history of the Wood v. Moss matter, and analyzes the Supreme Court decision.
Wood v. Moss posed the question of whether Secret Service agents can be sued for moving peaceful protesters out of sight and sound of the President because of the viewpoint of their speech. Acting as a cooperating attorney for the ACLU Foundation of Oregon, Steven is lead counsel for the plaintiffs in the Moss litigation and argued the case before the Supreme Court.
