Best Lawyers in America 2015 has named five attorneys from Tonkon Torp LLP as 2015 Portland Lawyer of the Year in their specialties. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is honored as the Lawyer of the Year by the peer review survey.
Named Portland’s Lawyer of the Year 2015 for their practice areas are: Bruce G. Berning, Banking and Finance Law; Ronald L. Greenman, Corporate Law; William F. Martson, Jr., Litigation – Banking and Finance; Thomas P. Palmer, Corporate Governance Law; and Kenneth D. Stephens, Securities Regulation.
Berning has been a business and corporate lawyer for more than three decades. In addition to handling hundreds of complex financing transactions, he has served as general counsel for a variety of client companies in numerous industries.
Greenman’s business practice is focused on business acquisitions and divestitures, all stages of corporate finance, and general corporate advice and counseling to businesses in multiple industries. He regularly provides legal guidance to company management and boards of directors in governance, compliance and employee equity matters.
Palmer, who chairs the firm’s Corporate Finance practice group, specializes in securities and general corporate matters including public offerings, private placements, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions.
Martson, a trial attorney who specializes in civil cases before state and federal courts, has tried over 200 cases involving securities and shareholder rights, natural resource and environmental based litigation. He has been named to the select list of “Bet the Company” litigators by Best Lawyers in America for five consecutive years.
Stephens, a founding partner of Tonkon Torp, recently retired after 47 years of practicing corporate and securities law. He has been recognized as a leading corporate and banking lawyer by The Best Lawyers in America®, Super Lawyers and Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.
