Petersen and Delano Discuss PURPA with Oregon’s Solar Industry

Tonkon Torp sponsored the Solar Oregon Solar Now! University on June 13 in Hillsboro, OR. During the event, David Petersen and Duncan Delano gave a presentation on “Requiring Utilities to Buy Solar Power under PURPA.”

David and Duncan have represented several developers in the successful negotiation and construction of solar projects in Oregon. They spoke about the federal Public Utility Regulatory Policy Act (PURPA) and provided an overview of the challenges, both financial and regulatory, that impact PURPA projects. Attendees learned how to develop a PURPA project and present it to a utility.

Duncan is a member of Tonkon Torp’s Energy Law and Real Estate & Land Use practice groups. He helps clients develop renewable energy projects.

David is an attorney in Tonkon Torp’s Real Estate & Land Use practice group, and the chair of the Energy Law practice group. He helps landowners and developers navigate every aspect of the land development process.
