On May 9, Bob Carey presented at the 2014 Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) Construction Industry Conference. Bob’s topic was “Background Investigations and Social Media in the Workplace.” The presentation provided an overview of the various laws related to employer use of social media and credit reporting agencies to screen employees. In addition, Bob discussed the implications of using such tools during employment to make decisions such as discipline or termination. The OSCPA was founded in 1908 and is a professional membership organization with over 4,700 members statewide.
