On April 8, Tonkon Torp hosted the YWCA of Greater Portland’s board of directors and major contributors for a brunch reception at Tonkon Torp. The reception preceded YWCA’s annual Inspire Luncheon, at which Tonkon Torp was also a sponsor. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Sheryl WuDunn appeared at the Tonkon reception and was the keynote speaker at the Inspire Luncheon. Darcy Norville, recent president of the YWCA of Greater Portland’s board of directors, organized Tonkon’s involvement with the events. The Inspire Luncheon brings together Portland’s most prominent business and community leaders who are committed to the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
