Tonkon Torp Real Estate Attorneys Discuss Title Insurance and Purchase Contracts for NBI Seminar

Tonkon Torp attorneys David J. Petersen and Kimberlee A. Stafford will be presenting at the December 3, 2013 seminar “Handling Real Estate Transactions With Confidence,” sponsored by the National Business Institute (NBI). The seminar features an array of expert speakers, offering an overview of the fundamental tools needed to handle each step of a commercial real estate transaction.

Petersen and Stafford will give two presentations at the seminar. In “Title Insurance and Survey Review: What You Need to Know” the two will cover title commitments, survey review, easements, title defects and encumbrances, and title policies and endorsements. For “Step-by-Step Through the Purchase Contract” they will discuss due diligence responsibilities, disclosure obligations, reviewing pre-negotiated terms and conditions, and essential elements of the contract.

David Petersen is an attorney in Tonkon Torp’s Real Estate & Land Use practice group, and the chair of the Energy practice group. He helps landowners and developers navigate every aspect of the land development process, including land purchase, subdivision platting, land use permitting at the federal, state and local levels, environmental compliance and litigation.

Kimberlee Stafford is a member of Tonkon Torp’s Real Estate & Land Use, Environmental & Natural Resources, and Energy practice groups, emphasizing a wide range of commercial real estate transactions in her practice. She manages transactions involving purchases and sales, leases and financing in energy and forest products industries, in addition to traditional real estate transactions involving office, retail and industrial properties.
