Tonkon Torp Litigator Explores Internet Law Issues

Tonkon Torp litigator Steven Wilker presents a Continuing Legal Education seminar on new developments in Internet law this week in Portland. The seminar is part of the Oregon State Bar’s ongoing professional development series.

Wilker is a partner in Tonkon Torp LLP’s Intellectual Property, Information Security & Privacy, and Financial Services practice groups, where he represents local, regional and national clients in disputes in Oregon and all across the country. His presentation opens the Computer and Internet Law Section’s annual CLE on September 14: “Privacy, Piracy and Patents: Computer law 2012”. Wilker’s presentation on “Internet Authorship: Blogging, journalists, snipers and anonymity” cover issues concerning defamation on the Internet, applicable legal standards, and constitutional and statutory limitations, as well as some practical issues for victims of online attacks.

While his practice emphasizes media and technology law, intellectual property and complex commercial litigation, Wilker also advises clients on ways to avoid litigation and how to better position themselves should litigation occur. He was selected for The Best Lawyers in America® for 2013 for First Amendment and Commercial Litigation.
