Kotori Discusses Issues Regarding HIPAA Privacy Rule Violations

Tonkon Torp attorney Blerina Kotori will coach business lawyers on non-litigation aspects of the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) that affect covered entities, such as employers. At the June 7 program sponsored by the Multnomah Bar Association, Kotori will address HIPAA’s privacy and security rules, what to do if private health information is accidentally disclosed, and indemnification and insurance issues involving costs associated with HIPAA violations.

 

Kotori is a member of Tonkon Torp’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. She represents employers in matters including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage and hour and employment benefits. She also defends companies in class actions and other complex litigation, such as antitrust, business torts and breach of contract.  Kotori is a frequent speaker on employment matters, including HIPAA and benefits, as well as on electronic discovery and privacy issues.  She joined Tonkon Torp in 2007.
