Kotori to Discuss HIPAA Issues

Tonkon Torp attorney Blerina Kotori will discuss current HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act) requirements for members of Lewis & Clark Law School’s Employment Law Society.  The November 7, 2011 presentation is on the campus.

Kotori’s presentation focuses on the application of HIPAA to employment law and employers dealing with fast-paced technology. In addition to discussing changes introduced by the Obama administration, Kotori will cover how to prevent health information security breaches and how to deal with them when they do happen.

Kotori is a member of Tonkon Torp’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. She represents employers in matters including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, workers’ compensation and employment benefits. She also litigates antitrust cases, business torts and breach of contract claims. Kotori joined Tonkon Torp in 2007.

The Employment Law Society at Lewis & Clark is dedicated to promoting student opportunities in employment law through informational programs, volunteer service events and discussion of the latest employment law issues.  Kotori is a 2007 graduate of the school.
