Palmer Moderates Panel Discussion of Corporate Issues Related to IT

Tonkon Torp attorney Tom Palmer will moderate a panel discussion on “Oversight of Information Security Risks: Considerations for Directors” at a September 13 event hosted by the Northwest Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors–Portland (NACD).

Palmer, a partner at Tonkon Torp and chair of the firm’s Corporate Finance Practice Group, specializes in securities and corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, other equity and debt offerings, and private placements.  A key part of his practice includes representation of special committees of directors, corporate governance issues and SEC reporting and disclosure matters.

The NACD event begins at 7:00 a.m. at the Downtown Hilton in Portland.  Palmer will moderate a panel of three business leaders who will discuss emerging IT issues that corporate directors should be aware of, including resource allocation for IT security, risk assessment of IT projects and the prudence of moving critical resources to the “cloud.”  Panel participants include an IT security expert, risk management consultant and a technology board veteran.

NACD’s mission is to enhance corporate governance by supporting boards of directors to help them perform more effectively and efficiently.  The Northwest Chapter serves Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Idaho and provides educational and networking opportunities for members of corporate, public and nonprofit boards.
