Tonkon Torp Recognized for Philanthropy

Tonkon Torp was named one of the top 10 mid-size organizations who are leaders in philanthropy in the Portland metro area, according to The Portland Business Journal.

The ranking is based on a survey that measured cash and in-kind contributions as well as pro-bono hours donated to Oregon-based charities and nonprofits in 2008. In addition to significant cash contributions, last year Tonkon Torp attorneys donated 3,400 hours of their time to charitable organizations in the categories of arts & culture, education, environment, health and human services, and general benefits to society. Among the organizations benefiting from the firm’s philanthropy in 2008 were Friends of the Children, Marathon Education Partners, Self Enhancement, Inc. and the Classic Wines Auction, which supports a group of nonprofits who provide services to children, teens and families.

“Our attorneys and staff actively support dozens of nonprofit organizations that enrich our community,” said Mike Morgan, Managing Partner. “Community involvement and philanthropy are values upon which this firm was founded and which we continue to hold dear.”

Tonkon Torp and other recipients will be honored at an awards luncheon hosted by the Business Journal on October 1st.
