Three Tonkon Torp attorneys recently have been appointed to serve on key advisory panels charting the Portland area’s future.
- Owen Blank was named to the Downtown Vision Task Force formed in late 2008 to identify a collective vision for the future of downtown Portland and a signature retail concept for the area.
- Max M. Miller, Jr. was tapped to join the Mayor’s Economic Cabinet, charged with developing an economic platform that will sustain and improve Portland’s prosperity. The cabinet’s initial focus is on Portland’s business and employment climate.
- David Copley Forman was appointed to the Portland/Multnomah County Sustainable Development Commission, which promotes policies to support sustainable economic development and sustainable internal government operations.”Civic engagement has been a hallmark of the Tonkon Torp law firm since its inception nearly 35 years ago,” said Michael M. He is an honorary lifetime director of the Portland Business Alliance and has served on the boards of many civic and nonprofit organizations that contribute to the character and livability of the city.
Miller, an environmental and natural resources attorney, co-chairs Tonkon Torp’s Sustainability Practice Group. His clients are in the renewable energy, forest products and manufacturing industries. An avid supporter of arts and education, Miller chairs the board of NW Business for Culture and the Arts and serves on the governing committee of The Right Brain Initiative to enhance arts education for all Portland school children.
Forman is a member of the Corporate Finance Practice Group and co-chairs the Sustainability Practice Group. He works with investors and companies who use their resources to promote sustainable practices and products. Forman participates in many sustainability-related events and forums, and moderated a panel at the 2008 PSU sustainability conference.
