Yakima Products Acquires New Headquarters Campus with Help from Tonkon Torp

Tonkon Torp’s Real Estate & Land Use practice group completed a time sensitive transaction that enabled the fast-growing Yakima Products, Inc. to acquire its new corporate headquarters in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Yakima is a world leader in vehicle racks and cargo solutions for consumers. The transaction for this long-term client required a balancing act to allow Yakima to acquire and start a remodel on its new headquarters before the lease ran out on its prior corporate headquarters in Beaverton.

The firm concurrently negotiated a lease termination agreement with Yakima’s prior landlord and a purchase and sale agreement with the City of Lake Oswego for the 89,000 square-foot West End Building located on a 13-acre site on Kruse Way in Lake Oswego. The project included: coordinating all due diligence, survey, and title work; negotiating construction contracts for a comprehensive remodel; resolving title and access issues; negotiating a number of property-related agreements with the City; advising Yakima's management on various financing, corporate, and tax planning matters.

Led by Ted Herzog, the transaction team included attorneys David Petersen and Gwen Griffith. Tonkon Torp is Yakima's regular outside counsel, representing Yakima since it moved to Oregon in 2005.
