Tonkon Torp celebrates the successful acquisition of an exclusive licensing arrangement for its client Starting Line Sailing, a custom sailboat manufacturer with operations and distribution channels throughout the world. The license from Hobie Cat Company, a globally recognized sailing brand, dramatically expands Starting Line Sailing’s product portfolio and increases its capacity to serve the sailing community.
Starting Line Sailing is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, and has worked with Tonkon Torp for many years, including in its previous acquisitions of Zim Sailing and Dwyer Mast and Rigging. When the opportunity with Hobie Cat surfaced, they utilized the firm’s expertise with complex M&A deals to shape and complete an international transaction that would allow them to expand their global footprint and further invest in the production and availability of products enjoyed by sailors around the world.

Adam Adkin led the transaction with the assistance of his colleagues Sam DeBaltzo, Ferdinand Ruplin, and Yalda Bahramian. The deal closed in late October, 2022.
