Employers Should Continue Using Current Form I-9 to Verify Employment Eligibility

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently announced that employers should continue using the version of Form I-9 currently available on the USCIS website (dated 08/07/09) for purposes of verifying employment eligibility even after the August 31, 2012 expiration date. The current version of Form I-9 can be accessed at the USCIS website: http://www.uscis.gov/i-9. Until the USCIS issues further notice, employers should continue using the existing Form I-9 to verify the identity and work authorization of all new hires.

If you have questions about Form I-9 requirements and procedures, please contact the Tonkon Torp Immigration Practice Group.
