New Form I-9 Becomes Effective Monday, February 2, 2009

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is issuing a new Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification), which becomes effective on Monday, February 2, 2009. The new Form I-9 makes several changes to the lists of acceptable employment eligibility documentation. One of the changes is that only unexpired documents will be acceptable for confirming employment eligibility. The new Form I-9 can be accessed at the following USCIS website: http://www.uscis.gov/i-9 IMPORTANT NOTE: U.S. employers must use the new Form I-9 as of, but not before, February 2, 2009.
