Tonkon Torp Continues Building Top Immigration Law Practice Group

June 26, 2012
Melany Savitt has joined Tonkon Torp as an associate in the firm's Immigration Practice Group.

A 2011 graduate of Lewis & Clark Law School, Savitt already has close to ten years of experience in business immigration law. She was a non-immigrant visa training coordinator and paralegal for a San Francisco immigration practice for several years before joining Tonkon Torp in 2005 as a paralegal. Her skills and interest in immigration legal matters led her to law school, and she continued working as a law clerk for a Portland immigration practice while a student. Now she is a practicing attorney in Tonkon Torp's nationally recognized business immigration group.

Established in 1999 by Turid L. Owren, Tonkon Torp's Immigration Practice Group works with some of the region's largest manufacturing, healthcare and technology organizations, helping ensure their ability to transfer, hire and retain foreign workers for technical, creative and executive assignments in the United States and abroad. The immigration practice recently earned top tier ranking (Band 1) for the third year in a row by Chambers USA, America's Leading Lawyers for Business, 2012. Owren and colleague Alan C. Perkins were named leaders in their field.

"We are delighted to welcome Melany back to the firm as she builds her legal practice. Her experience and proven skills make her a great addition to our immigration group," said Michael M. Morgan, managing partner.
