Tonkon Torp Briefs Employers on Worksite Enforcement and I-9 Issues

July 10, 2017
Tonkon Torp Business Immigration lawyers Turid Owren, Alan Perkins, Melina LaMorticella, and Melany Savitt, along with Labor & Employment attorney Kristin Bremer Moore, hosted a recent immigration law breakfast briefing for employers. The group spoke to a full house on how best to navigate a business environment marked by heightened scrutiny under the Trump Administration.

The attorneys provided a detailed overview on worksite enforcement actions by different government agencies. They shared insight into why the actions might occur, how to prepare for them, and what the different agencies may want to see. The lawyers also shared best practices for compliance with immigration and employment laws, including how to avoid citizenship/immigration status discrimination and document abuse. The briefing wrapped up with a primer on how to complete, store, and correct Forms I‐9.

Due to popular demand, the attorneys will offer additional sessions on worksite enforcement and I-9 issues in the near future.
