Michael Mangan Leads Property Tax Overview for New Lawyer Committee

On September 29, Tonkon Torp tax attorney Michael Mangan
led a program on property tax in Oregon for the New Tax Lawyer Committee of the Oregon State Bar. During the "101" overview, Michael shared important deadlines pertaining to property tax filings, and reviewed the definitions of taxable and non-taxable real and personal property. He defined how various governing bodies in Oregon view intangible personal property, and delved into the basics of Measures 5 and 50, including notable exception rules. He concluded his talk with an overview on Board of Property Tax Appeals and how a taxpayer can file industrial appeals with the Oregon Tax Court, Magistrate Division.
Michael represents commercial and industrial businesses, property owners, and taxpayers, and taxing districts in state and local property tax matters, condemnation and valuation litigation, and lease and ownership disputes. He also provides strategic tax advice for taxpayers and taxing districts.
