Women Business Leaders Gather at Seminar Co-Hosted by Tonkon Torp

In late October, Tonkon Torp co-sponsored a seminar for women business leaders. The seminar, moderated by Tonkon Torp attorney Gwen Griffith, and featuring attorney Sherrill Corbett as a panelist, offered three panels that paired local women business owners with one of their professional service providers to share stories of transition that marked significant turning points in their respective businesses.

Gwen was an ideal choice to moderate the lively and frank discussion as she drew upon her practical understanding of business needs and expertise in business transition planning. Sherrill and the owner of Oregon Spice Company shared the experience of how to recognize and make key decisions about operations and staffing.

Sherrill is a partner at Tonkon Torp and chairs the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice group and is a member of the firm’s managing board. She works with women-owned or run businesses and counsels clients on buying and selling businesses, forming joint ventures, raising capital and other general business matters. She has been recognized for a number of years by Best Lawyers in America for Corporate Compliance and Corporate Governance law and in 2017 was recognized as Portland Lawyer of the Year in the area of Corporate Compliance.

Gwen chairs Tonkon Torp’s Taxation practice group. Her practice includes matters related to business succession planning, partnership and corporate taxation as well as estate planning. She has been recognized for a number of years by Best Lawyers in America for tax law and trusts and estates.

The seminar was held at KeyBank Club at Providence Park and was sponsored by Tonkon Torp, KeyBank’s Key4Women, and Geffen Mesher.
