Tonkon Torp Hosts CLE on Brand Protection

Tonkon Torp recently hosted a Continuing Legal Education panel discussion, Brand Protection in the Transactional Context. Tom Palmer, chair of the Tonkon Torp Corporate Finance practice group, moderated the panel, which included Chris Erickson, Tonkon Torp trademark lawyer, and Casey Nakata, chief trademark and copyright counsel at Hewlett-Packard Company. The discussion addressed brand-specific challenges in the transactional context, trademark best practices, due diligence considerations, purchase agreement negotiation, and post-closing issues unique to trademarks and branding assets. The event was held for members of the Association of Corporate Counsel – Oregon Chapter at Tonkon Torp’s CENTRL Office location.

 

Chris Erickson is the chair of Tonkon Torp’s Intellectual Property practice group. He focuses his practice on trademarks and service marks in the U.S. and throughout the world. Tom Palmer is the chair of Tonkon Torp’s Corporate Finance practice group. His practice emphasizes securities and general corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, and private placements.
