On March 17 and 18, three attorneys from Tonkon Torp’s Business Immigration practice spoke at the 2016 NW Regional Immigration Law Conference held in Seattle.
Melany Savitt spoke about alternatives to H-1B cap-subject petitions, a topic of high interest to practitioners of immigration law considering that the limited number of H-1B slots available (85K total) have run out within five days of release for the past four years, this year included.
Kwang-yi Ger Gale and Melina LaMorticella participated in a panel on recent developments in L visas, which are used by companies to transfer managerial and specialized knowledge employees to the United States from a related foreign entity (such as a parent, subsidiary, branch, or affiliate of the U.S. company). Kwang-yi and Melina addressed updated guidance and issues with respect to the processing of L visa petitions by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and U.S. Consulates abroad.
The NW Regional Immigration Law Conference is hosted by Seattle University in cooperation with the Washington and Oregon chapters of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. The Conference offers CLE credits through three tracks of panels tailored for attorneys practicing immigration law.
