Tonkon Talk Navigates Website Law

Tonkon Torp intellectual property attorneys Chris Erickson and Eric Beach led a “Tonkon Talk” on April 6 on the basics of website law for start-ups. Their presentation covered how intellectual property impacts website creation and maintenance, including issues around trademark and domain names, and the creation and use of website content. The presentation also provided insight into how to negotiate website development and website hosting agreements, and the importance of website terms of use, privacy policies, and data collection.

Chris is the chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. His practice focuses on trademark law, negotiation of technology and software license agreements, and helping clients with the protection and enforcement of their intellectual property assets. Eric centers his practice on intellectual property matters, advising clients on the value and business impacts of intellectual property and representing clients in federal and state court in trademark, copyright, and patent disputes.

“Tonkon Talks in the Pearl” is a series of lunch-hour presentations hosted by the firm’s Entrepreneurial Services group. They are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the firm’s CENTRL Office location in the Pearl District. The talks provide an overview on legal topics that impact entrepreneurs and startups.
