Steven Wilker Explores the Ins and Outs of the Supreme Court

On November 11, Steven Wilker spoke at “The Supreme Court Inside and Out,” a CLE program presented by the OSB Business Litigation Section. The distinguished panelists discussed the ins and outs of preparing for and presenting arguments to the U.S. Supreme Court and the unique decision-making process that results in precedents which impact all of us.

Steven’s broad-based commercial litigation practice focuses on intellectual property, information privacy and security, and financial services, as well as media and communications. Steven has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® for Commercial Litigation and Litigation: First Amendment for 2013-16. He served on the boards of the ACLU of Oregon and the ACLU Foundation of Oregon from 2009-15 and continues to serve as Vice Chair of the Lawyers Committee of the ACLU of Oregon. Steven is a frequent speaker on First Amendment issues. In 2014, Steven argued a First Amendment case at the U.S. Supreme Court. He will be arguing a case arising under Oregon's Public Records Law for the ACLU of Oregon at the Oregon Supreme Court in March 2016. 

Steven’s fellow panelists were Oregon Supreme Court Justice Rives Kistler, a former clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell, and Jeff Lamken, a partner at Molo Lamken in Washington D.C., a former clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and a former Assistant Solicitor General who has argued 21 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.
