Kimberlee Stafford Receives Bar Association President’s Sustainability Award

Tonkon Torp attorney Kimberlee Stafford has been honored with the 2015 Oregon State Bar (OSB) President's Sustainability Award. This annual award recognizes OSB members who have made significant contributions to the goal of sustainability in the legal profession in Oregon.

Throughout her ten-year law career, Stafford has integrated sustainability concepts and actions into the practice of law. She is a partner at Tonkon Torp, and focuses her practice on commercial real estate transactions.

Stafford was a member of the Tonkon Torp Sustainability Committee for six years before being appointed Sustainability Coordinator by the Managing Board. She has helped move the firm steadily toward adopting comprehensive sustainable office practices that range from the addition of a secure bike storage room to reusable kitchenware and energy efficient lighting. During an extensive remodel of the firm, Stafford ensured a selection of materials and systems that reflect green building practices.

“Kim’s personal and professional commitment to sustainability is a benefit for our entire firm. She provides leadership, depth of thought and is accessible as a resource and advisor in sustainability to all our employees,” said Darcy Norville, Tonkon Torp managing partner.

Stafford has been actively involved in promoting sustainability education and sustainable law office practices to Portland’s professional and business organizations. She is a member of the Multnomah County Advisory Committee on Sustainability and Innovation, has chaired the Office Practices Committee of Oregon Lawyers for a Sustainable Future, and is a former Executive Committee Member of the Oregon State Bar Environmental and Natural Resources Section.

Stafford was presented with the President's Sustainability Award at a special OSB luncheon on December 10.
