Blerina Kotori Guides Employers Through “Bermuda Triangle” of Leave Laws

Tonkon Torp labor and employment attorney Blerina Kotori spoke to employers at the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) Annual Conference on November 15 about navigating the “Bermuda Triangle” of leave laws. Blerina coached employers on how to analyze and handle situations that implicate all four of Oregon’s major leave laws: FMLA/OFLA, the ADA, Workers’ Compensation, and sick leave laws. She covered the specific legal requirements and differences between the laws, and showed how to resolve several hypothetical scenarios that highlight the strong protections in place for employees who suffer from a serious health condition or a disability.

Blerina is a partner in Tonkon Torp’s Labor & Employment and Information Privacy & Security practice groups. She represents employers in matters including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage and hour, leave laws, and employment benefits. She also defends companies in wage and hour class actions and other complex litigation.
