Drew Hagedorn Co-Chairs Transportation Strategies Seminar
October 19, 2016
Tonkon Torp attorney Drew Hagedorn
co-chaired a day-long Transportation Strategies Seminar on October 6 in Portland. During the event, offered by the Seminar Group, Drew moderated two panel sessions on legislative matters and local transportation issues.
During a panel that looked ahead to the 2017 legislative session, Drew and his panel of Oregon legislators and transportation experts discussed Oregon's constitutional limits on use of highway funds and the constitutional requirement for cost responsibility in taxation between light and heavy trucks. They also explored the interplay that occurs when determining the amount of a package and how identified needs and use of funds impact that discussion. Lastly, they talked about the risk of referral of transportation funding.
Drew's second panel, which included legal experts and representatives from transportation agencies, looked at local issues in transportation, including funding capital infrastructure, dealing with density from a transportation perspective and integrating new technologies in the transportation planning arena.
Drew chairs the firm's state Government Relations and Public Policy
