Giving Infants and Toddlers an Early Head Start
When Albina Head Start, Inc. received a significant grant award to expand the agency's services, its management called on Tonkon Torp to help address many legal and business issues. The award, which named our client as a replacement grantee for an Early Head Start program and expanded our client's services to over 225 additional children and families, brought with it a number of real estate, business, and labor and employment issues that required resolution.
Tonkon Torp business and real estate attorneys negotiated the leases for four new facilities. They also have been addressing legal issues related to environmental and structural assessments and construction at two sites in preparation for the transfer of ownership to Albina Head Start. In addition, Tonkon Torp is assisting Albina Head Start with legal issues pertaining to the financing of and acquisition of those two sites.
Tonkon Torp's labor and employment attorneys have responded to issues including strategic development of Albina Head Start's recruitment, the application and hiring process, and labor related issues.
Thanks to the contribution of over 360 pro bono hours by Tonkon Torp attorneys, Albina Head Start is able to broaden its mission of advocacy and service to families by enhancing the development of infants and toddlers through Early Head Start.
