Vanessa is an associate in the firm's business department and information security and privacy and intellectual property practice groups. Vanessa regularly advises clients on a wide range of matters including general business issues, entity selection and formation, corporate governance, acquisitions and divestitures, commercial contracts, corporate finance, licensing agreements, regulatory compliance, information security breach incidents, information security policies and privacy policies, and a variety of other information privacy and security issues related to financial information, children's information, general consumer information, health and medical information, social networking, online advertising, and behavioral marketing.
 
Additionally, Vanessa counsels clients with regard to government contracting matters, including Federal Acquisition Regulation ("FAR") analysis and compliance and assistance with the federal government requests for proposals ("RFPs") process.

In the summer and fall of 2012, Vanessa was staffed onsite with the NIKE Legal Department and assisted in negotiating and drafting various commercial contracts.
 
Vanessa's clients span a wide range of industries and include retailers, distributors, consumer and business service providers, manufacturers, online businesses, technology, hardware and software vendors, education institutions, nonprofit foundations, financial institutions, health care institutions, and insurance companies.
 
Prior to joining the firm, Vanessa volunteered at the Lewis & Clark Small Business Clinic and served as the Interim Operations Manager while also conducting pro bono legal work involving analysis of the Federal Trade Commission's Red Flags Rule.
 
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Vanessa worked for eight years as an environmental consultant, assisting private developers and public utility companies with environmental regulatory compliance, natural resource planning and habitat conservation and restoration.
 
In her time away from the office, Vanessa enjoys traveling, snowboarding, music, and spending time with her friends and family.
