Jonathan Young is an Of Counsel attorney at Tonkon Torp. A member of the New York State Bar, Jonathan has handled numerous, significant litigation matters, representing such clients as Toys “R” Us, National City Bank, Sprint, and Costco. Jonathan has served as managing partner of the New York City offices for the firms Sills Cummis & Gross and Reed Smith, where he was also a member of their Executive Committee.
 
Some of Jonathan’s work experience includes:
 
  • A $200 million bankruptcy matter in Federal District Court in Delaware concerning the acquisition of the largest U.S. commercial bus company.
 
  • A $450 million matter for JP Morgan Chase concerning the value of indentures in the face of merger.
 
  • Hundreds of matters involving complicated financial accounting frauds, bank loan loss reserve controversies, commercial real estate disputes, patent disputes, insurance coverage and accounting disputes, and mortgage disputes.
 
Most recently Jonathan has worked as owner and operator of a freight and logistics company based out of Charleston, South Carolina – a company with 25 employees dispatching 20 trucks each day with over $2 million in revenue. He also worked for several years as Senior Vice President and Chief Claims Officer for the public company Harleysville Insurance.
 
Jonathan is a graduate of Georgetown University Law School and spent his early law career as an attorney with the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and as a law clerk to the Honorable Caleb M. Wright, United States District Court for the District of Delaware.
